Cancun Light Tackle & Flyfishing Charters

You will fish aboard a Maverick Mirage 17' skiff with 70 horsepower motor, guided by Capt. Rodman Hunter, he is a native of Cancun  speaks english fluently and has a solid knowledge of flyfishing. 

The day usually starts at: 6:00am 

We fish mostly the Nichupte Lagoon which is mostly a tarpon and snook fishery, with Tarpon ranging from 6-25 pounds and Snook in the 4 to 10 pound range, there will be some permit and bonefish in the summer months so a chance at a grand slam is possible.

We use all sage equipment and custom reels, if you would like to bring your own rod we recommend an 8 weight loaded with weight forward floating line and at least 200 yards of backing. We tie our own flies and have all the leaders and tackle necessary for flyfishing. If you like to tie your own fly's we recommend you bring an assortment of streamer type fly's tied on 2.0 hooks and 3.0 hooks such as lefty's deceivers, clouser minnows, sea ducers and any type of tarpon fly's like the cockroach and stu apte's tarpon fly's. For bonefish and permit some crazy charlies in light colors and crab patterns such as merkins will work fine.

For the spin fisherman we have a set of 8 new ahab reels with 8 pound test line and custom spinning rods, we fish mostly 1/4 ounce bucktail jigs, wigle jigs, and some plugs. 

What to bring:

wide brim hat, polarized glasses, white sole shoes, sunscreen.
